GOSIA KOSIEC

Exploring Form, Color, and Perception
Gosia Kosiec is a contemporary artist born in 1975 in Łódź, Poland, where she continues to live and work. She trained at the Tadeusz Makowski Art College, earning her Bachelor of Arts in 1995, and received a Master of Arts with distinction from the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź in 2000. Early in her career, she was awarded a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and was a finalist in International Young Art – Artlink 2002 under the Sotheby’s young artist program.
From Chaos to Structure
Kosiec’s work spans powerful abstract paintings and typography-infused figurative portraits, reflecting a deep exploration of form, color, and visual language. Her process often begins with a visual “chaos” of shapes and hues that gradually resolves into a structured composition, where each element holds significance. This multilayered, sometimes fragmented approach invites viewers into a visual journey full of discovery and intrigue.
Identity and the Human Figure
A recurring theme in her work is the human figure—particularly women—and how identity is shaped and distorted through media and cultural imagery. Drawing on influences from screens, information flows, and the digital environment, Kosiec frequently incorporates typography and symbolic forms into her paintings, creating bold and dynamic visuals that explore contemporary perception and representation.
Large-Scale, Immersive Works
Her materials include acrylic and oil on canvas, and she is known for working in large formats that envelop the viewer and create immersive experiences. Kosiec’s artistic vocabulary moves fluidly between abstract expressionism and figurative elements, maintaining intensity, layered depth, and thoughtful composition.
International Recognition
Kosiec has exhibited internationally in cities including Warsaw, Kraków, Łódź, Malmö, Stockholm, New York, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Denver, and London. Her work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions and is included in private and public collections across several countries. In Sweden, audiences have experienced her rich interplay of line, color, and visual movement through gallery exhibitions.
Bridging Abstraction and Expression
Overall, Gosia Kosiec’s art bridges abstraction, typography, and figurative expression to reflect the multifaceted visual world of our contemporary era, offering viewers both emotional resonance and intellectual engagement.
