Felix Rodríguez – Splitter Icons - Alice Cooper
Felix Rodríguez creates portrait-based artworks constructed from shattered glass, where the fractured material itself becomes an integral part of the image. By deliberately controlling the breaking process, he shapes how the glass fractures, allowing the resulting cracks and fragments to define the composition.
His technique combines control and unpredictability, with reflections, refractions, and broken surfaces forming the visual structure of each portrait. The glass is not treated as a surface to be repaired, but as the primary medium through which the image emerges.
Rodríguez frequently works in series featuring portraits of cultural and music figures. In these works, the physical properties of the material—its fragility, sharpness, and reflective qualities—are central to the final result.
The outcome is a form of portraiture where material and subject are inseparable, and where the fragmented nature of glass creates a distinctive visual language defined by texture, light, and structure.
