Emma Gibbons Born 1988, London, UK – based in London Emma Gibbons is a contemporary artist whose work exists at the intersection of pop culture, material experimentation, and visual playfulness. Her vibrant palette, tactile surfaces, and unexpected materials combine an ironic sensibility with a thoughtful reflection on contemporary consumerism, identity, and emotional expression. Her art is at once playful and subversive—a dialogue between aesthetic allure and conceptual depth.

Trained in art and illustration in London, Gibbons draws on a background spanning both traditional painting and conceptual visual practices. She frequently works with handcrafted components such as resin, glitter, diamond dust, and silkscreen printing, giving each piece a distinct presence and physical intensity.

Titles like Fuk. It. Ol. and others in the series reveal her playful, almost pop-poetic lexicon, transforming everyday phrases into works that are humorous, bold, and thought-provoking. In Emma Gibbons’ work, surface becomes a stage for emotion, desire, and reflection. By elevating ordinary expressions, symbols, and images into art objects, she invites the viewer to engage, interpret, and connect—turning the seemingly banal into a window onto the complexities of contemporary life.

She worked for Damien Hirst for a total of 7 years, including the installation and exhibition of his infamous For The Love of God diamond encrusted skull at it’s UK unveiling at White Cube Gallery, London.

Emma studied art & illustration in London College of Printing (BA) and Camberwell College of Art (MA).
